Comic: How Microsoft CRM makes it to the Enterprise
Contrary to what you may think, the decisions to implement platforms like SharePoint, BizTalk and CRM in the enterprise are very carefully planned. They involve discussions with key stake-holders, organizational influencers and third party vendor consultants. They must include careful considerations like return on investment, strategic positioning and capital budgeting; terms that developers like us simply wouldn’t comprehend.
As ill-informed technical staff, it would be too risky to leave technology decisions to us. Therefore these decisions must be made by high-profile management types; preferably with a marketing, sales or accounting background, who understand the real technical risks of their decisions.
